Matt DeHoog is the Associate Regional Director for Greater Grand Rapids. He supports and equips our Young Life staff in Greater Grand Rapids. A Young Life kid from Greensboro, NC, Matt has been serving on Young Life staff in Grand Rapids for 20 years. He loves watching YL leaders go where kids are, sharing life with them, and accepting them unconditionally with the love of Jesus.
In addition to his work with Young Life, Matt is a clinical therapist who cares deeply about the emotional and spiritual well-being of others. He’s also passionate about endurance mountain biking and regularly races in 906 Adventure events. In his free time, Matt cheers for the Carolina Panthers and the UNC Tar Heels, and loves being with his wife Molly and their daughters – Coby, Lucy, and Mina – especially when they’re dancing around the house or when he’s cheering them on at their soccer games.
“Most of us were taught that God would love us if and when we change. In fact, God loves you so that you can change. What empowers change, what makes you desirous of change is the experience of love. It is that inherent experience of love that becomes the engine of change.”
