Today is the International Women’s Day. Around the globe today, people are celebrating women and their achievements.

As in previous years, we have asked our staff around the region to nominate women they see making a difference in the lives of adolescents. These are everyday women—coaches, youth pastors, mothers, teachers, advocates, advisers, mentors, secretaries, counselors—who have unique gifts and abilities and who continually show up to love and serve kids in the places where they live and lead.

We see you leading and inspiring others. We celebrate how you shine hope and light into places that need it most. We applaud you for making a difference—no matter how big or small—in our communities and world. We value your partnership with Young Life as together we enter into the world of adolescents, bring light and hope and the Good News to kids everywhere. Thank you for doing what you do—Cheers!

Beth is definitely making a difference in these precious girls’ lives!

—Nominated by Brianna Andrew, NE Grand Rapids Young Life

“You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.”

—Matthew 5:16 [The Message]
